It is very telling how much more seriously we regard the well being of our animals - both livestock and pets.

An animal with a terminal and/or cost prohibitive and/or painful condition thought to outweigh quality of life is routinely euthanized quickly, painlessly, and affordably with a tranquilizer and pentobarbital.
