I started browsing through r/nursing to get a read on what is happening. It's not an entirely reliable source, but the anecdotes people share with each other in spaces not frequented by many outsiders tend to be more honest, and you can also use a few heuristics to judge whether comments are made by real people reporting real experiences. Unlike CNN stories. Unlike Tweets about what your 8 year old said.
Anyway, there seem to be a number of nurses reporting that they are seeing many more younger and even pediatric cases that are more severe than throughout previous waves. There are some comments suggesting many are unvaccinated but that's not usually explicitly stated, and there is some disagreement about whether it is the case (and whether it can even be known to the people making the claim).
I'm trying to find other sources like r/nursing where doctors and nurses freely share information with each other.
