"God help you if you overpaid and it wasn't a lateral move." Right on, TG! And consider that transaction costs of selling a home make it a slightly less than even lateral move. If you can swing it, house price arbitrage can work in your favor, that is, sell in a high priced market and buy in a low priced market. More doable if you are not bound to high-priced markets for employment. WFH to the rescue, as long as it holds?
