@Ahhz that's exactly right! on august 19th 1991 we had "back to communism" coup-de-etat that lasted 3 days and after that Gorbachev was back in power. yes, it was pretty bad - food shortages, skyrocketing inflation, but the thought of "the sate is no more" never crossed ppl's mind. and in just one night it was over.
