Oh Look, More Handcuffs! (Gupta)

But nobody committed any crimes, right?

Rajat Gupta, who reached the pinnacle of corporate America as managing partner of McKinsey & Co. and was a director at Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) and Procter & Gamble, was convicted by a federal jury of leaking inside information to hedge-fund manager Raj Rajaratnam.

Convicted on 4 of 6 charges, faces a potential 25 years.

I think that the only ones who get handcuffs are the ones the big boys have decided to throw under the bus. No one goes to jail unless they screw up or threaten to become a problem. Or maybe they believe in the occasional human sacrifice to appease the gods. Either way, I don't think this is the beginning of a trend. Someone just decided to liquidate an "asset."

You risk prosecution if your crime can be portrayed as an isolated incident. If prosecution would expose systemic crime, you're in the clear.

Notice the names of both of the individuals involved. They don't sound white or Jewish to me.

These poor fools thought they could join the ranks of the upper class and found out that they are expendible. As long as no one who is white and male have to face the music.

All these execs should have to face criminal charges. But, look at what the US Attorneys did in Kerry Killinger's case, they dismissed all criminal charges and then announced an investigation into 23 middle managers. Trying to make us believe that WaMu's CEO was stupid enough to not know about 23 middle managers enacting a crime ring under his very nose.

It is ****ing pathetic. We are on the Titanic and someone keeps throwing water to save us.

Now that election season is here some of these pigs are going down. But not the fund raisers like Corzine.

But they'll do 3-4 years max until Obama's next term ends and all get pardoned.

Rajat must have really*****ed someone off somewhere...facing 25 years for something others do all day long?

Seems like Karl puts up "indicators/evidence" of insider trading on a daily basis....but poor old Rajat is the only one to go down...

He was a sacrifice...perfect too...member of an ethnic group that is unpopular in the West...wrong skin color...religion was probably one of those "false ones"(rolling eyes)...he was an idiot for thinking he could join the existing club; or try to start a new one...

No biggie. Rajat just forgot to mail in his $25,000 check to the 'Banksterz to Re-Elect the Obammaz Prez' PAC....

But it's never to late to get that check mailed in. In fact, might want to double it - to go for that Prezidential Pardon!!!

I want to see this guy doing hard time in PMITA prison. He needs to come out of prison 25 years from now to revoked citizenship and a one-way ticket on a boat sailing back to the subcontinent.

Because Romney is a firebrand reformer who will launch fraud investigations!? If I were on Wall Street I might want Romney to win just in case someone has to start actually running the country when there's no more money left to steal. Romney has the skill set for it, and is polite enough to wait.

Democrats did well blowing the tuition bubble, but the student theft machine pretty much runs itself at this point. The financial "aid" scheme will carry on just fine through a republican term or two.

Big Healthcare corps on the other hand I'd expect to lean toward Obama who wants to make then Even Bigger Healthcare corps by giving them what amounts to taxation authority over the public.

Question for anyone...

Story about BOA screwing up and giving a gambling addict unlimited funds...he withdrew a $1.5 milllion and lost it in the casinos.

Is that stolen goods...aren't people required to forfeit stolen goods back to the owner....shouldn't the casinos have to give the money back?

Give it back to who? That money never existed until "withdrawn". More like counterfeiting than theft, which BoA would have done anyway in some officially sanctioned manner.

My point was that banks are nothing but gamblers anyway, the guy was just saving BoA the trouble of gambling it away themselves.

Gupta gets sentenced to 24 months in a Club Fed prison.
To put this in perspective:
Gupta gave $100k to Dems, stole over $100m in insider trades and gets 2 years in prison.
Corzine bundles $500k+ for Obama, loses $1.6B of customer money, and still walks free, and is still raising money for Obama.

Goldman could perform an ACH out of every person's account in the US with a memo saying "Thanks for the cash, Suckers! Off to do God's work. Love, Goldman" and yet nothing would be done about it.

I was laughed at when I suggested that Corzine would get off scot free. Well?

Good luck to all those holding your breath thinking anything will change before it all finally dies on the vine.
