A Representative Republic? That's So Last Century
 

It really doesn't get any more clear than this, does it?

As a way to solve the national debt crisis, North Carolina Democratic Gov. Beverly Perdue recommends suspending congressional elections for the next couple of years.

“I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover,” Perdue said at a rotary club event in Cary, North Carolina, according to the Raleigh News & Observer. “I really hope that someone can agree with me on that.”

Let me simply observe that such a "proposal", if said other than in jest, is an open declaration by an elected official to literally seize power and refuse to cede either office or power to the will of the people.

Should such an act be contemplated, say much less recommended or acted upon, we no longer live in a Representative Republic and the remedies called for in The Declaration of Independence are the only ones remaining for any and all who intend to be a free people living in a nation that operates on the principles of a Representative Republic.

Oh, you don't think that's all, do you?  Why no!

In other words, radical as it sounds, we need to counter the gridlock of our political institutions by making them a bit less democratic." - Peter Orszag

Who is Peter Orszag?  Vice Chairman of Global Banking at Citigroup, Bloomberg "view" columnist, an adjunct senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and....... most importantly.... The former director of the Office of Management and Budget for President Obama.

Treason is the violation of allegiance to one's sovereign or state, giving aid to enemies, or levying war against one's state. Sedition is encouraging one's fellow citizens to rebel against their state, whereas treason is actually betraying one's country by aiding and abetting another state. Sedition laws somewhat equate to terrorism and public order laws.




I don't think that the vast majority of American Citizens have any ****ing idea how serious such a statement is...

IF cancellation of Congressional Elections is being contemplated -wouldn't it be logical to assume that cancellation of the Presidential Election is being contemplated?


When are the Troops being brought back from Iraq?

this doesn't surprise me at all. Our political leaders have become so corrupt that its "reelection at any cost." I've become so pessimistic that I wouldn't be surprised if Obama tries this if he see his attempts at reelection fading.

Beverly, here's what I expect my representative, senators, and president to do: GROW A PAIR.

When you put this load of crap with Lindsay Graham's attempt to exempt the military from any spending cuts what do you get? Answer: you get proof that the most right-wing-crazy-tea-bagger politicians, were in the right on blocking the debt ceiling increase and on insisting on gun ownership rights.

Jane- I'm even more pessimistic. I'll go so far as to say it doesnt matter who is in the white house...republican or democrat. Both parties only know 1 solution anymore...more government. I thank Karl for all his work but I think we're past the point of return and whatever gets us to the reset that's coming the fastest, I'm for. if that's 4 more years...so be it.

I'm pretty sure North Korea has a lot of depoliticized commissions that are not harmed by "legislative inertia".

Make no mistake people, the 2nd Amendment is the ONLY reason this hasn't been tried yet.

Remember the 2009 Honduras constitutional crisis? They've had a constitution that says the prez gets two terms. Well this dictator wannabee Zelaya didn't want to play that, choosing a life term presidency. So they ran him out of the country and guess who runs to this exiled presidents aid? You guessed it already, Obama.

We've seen our constitution trashed repeatedly. I don't put it passed any of the corrupted bastards in office to pull this crap. Suppose Obama don't wanna honor an election?
